This is the conviction of the Bobruisk city authorities, who banned the applied pickets in support of REP Trade Union leaders.
Back on May 17, activists of the Bobruisk branch of the REP Trade Union applied for five pickets in support of the union leaders – Gennady Fedynich and Igor Komlik.
Local authorities refused to sanction the pickets stating the need to contract and pay for the services of militiamen and the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).
“In response to our applications, traditional run-arounds were sent by the city executive committee the,” Galina Smirnova, the REP leader in Bobruisk, explained. “We applied for pickets five persons strong and lasting for up to 30 minutes. However, before to sanction the pickets, bureaucrats asked to conclude and present contracts with the militia, separately with the GAI (road police), the MfE, ambulance medics and municipal janitors… However, I didn’t expect any other decision of our local authorities, chronically intolerable of any dissent…”
