Union activists submitted applications for five pickets – on June 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The aim is to express protest against repressions of independent trade unions in Belarus and demand to stop the criminal prosecution of Gennady Fedynich and Igor Komlik.
“We’ll be satisfied with any place that the Bobruisk City Executive Committee appoints for our pickets. Even if there are no passers-by in the outskirt, a lot of cars drive by at the end of the working day. And on Sunday, people are returning from their summer cottages. In Bobruisk, not only REP members, but other townspeople, want to know what is happening in the union. Gennady Fedynich and Igor Komlik are our leaders and we want to support them,” Galina Smirnova, the local union leader, has stated.
